British Foreign Office accused Russia of harbouring cybercriminals

The UK believes that Russia is harbouring cybercriminals, and its actions in cyberspace are aimed at undermining the foundations of democratic societies.

British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said that Russia is harboring criminals. The minister did not give specific names. In his opinion, Moscow is not actively fighting against violations of international laws. In addition, Raab believes that the actions of Russia and China in cyberspace are aimed at undermining the foundations of democracy.

The British Foreign Minister will speak today at a conference of the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) of the United Kingdom. Excerpts from his speech were provided by the British Foreign Office, the newspaper notes.

“Hostile state actors and criminal groups want to undermine the foundations of our society and democracy. Let’s put it bluntly: countries like Russia are obliged to prosecute criminals who operate from their territory, and not to cover them up, ”the foreign ministry quotes extracts from the minister’s speech.

Raab claims that North Korea, Iran, Russia and China do not respect the principles of democracy, but “use digital technologies to sabotage and steal data.” Also in the message, it is said that London advocates the creation of “a broad coalition of countries to develop international rules that are for the benefit of all” to protect against states “committing malicious cyberattacks.”
