Spain's Ministry of Labor and Social Economy hit by cyberattack

The incident affected computer systems in the conference room, but the ministry’s website was not affected.

The computer systems of the Spanish Ministry of Labor and Social Economy fell victim to a cyber attack. Technical specialists from the ministry and the National Cryptology Center are working together to determine the source of the attack and restore the normal functioning of the systems as soon as possible.

The incident affected computer systems in the conference room, but the ministry’s website was not affected.

It is noteworthy that this incident took place several months after the attack on the government agency Servicio Público de Empleo Estatal (SEPE), which is part of the Ministry. At the time, the incident affected server systems and the government’s public website. SEPE staff at 710 offices across Spain had to cancel and reschedule unemployment appointments after access to central systems was blocked. Fifty-two self-service telematics systems were also damaged as a result of the attack.

However, SEPE was not affected by the recent cyberattack.
