Ukrainian law enforcement officers have arrested operator large botnet

The Ukrainian Security Service announced the arrest of a hacker (name withheld) who ran a large botnet that read over 100,000 bots.

It is reported that the botnet was used to carry out DDoS and spam attacks, brute force sites and mailboxes, hacking and other malicious activities. At the request of customers, the botnet could even be used to conduct “pentests”, that is, to search for and exploit various vulnerabilities on specific remote devices.

Law enforcers say that the detainee found customers on hacker forums and in closed chats in Telegram, and made settlements with clients through electronic payment systems prohibited in Ukraine (in particular, Webmoney).

The statement of the SBU emphasizes that during the searches carried out at the addresses of registration and actual residence of the suspect, “computer equipment with evidence of illegal activity” was seized.
