Apple reports on the fight against fraud in 2020

Over the past year, the American corporation has prevented fraudulent transactions totaling $ 1.5 billion

The American corporation Apple managed to suppress potentially fraudulent transactions in its App Store for a total amount of more than $ 1.5 billion in 2020. The data was presented on Tuesday on the official website of the company.

“In 2020 alone, a combination of advanced technology and expert analytics prevented more than 3 million stolen cards from being used to purchase stolen goods and services, and also blocked the re-transaction of nearly 1 million accounts. In total, Apple has protected users from potentially fraudulent transactions. worth more than $ 1.5 billion in 2020, “Apple said in a statement.

The company also banned 470,000 app developers accounts last year and rejected another 205,000 applications from registrating due to fears of possible fraud.

“Unfortunately, sometimes developer accounts are created solely for fraudulent purposes. If a developer’s violation is flagrant or repeated, the offender is excluded from the App Store Developer Program, and his account is suspended,” notes Apple.

In addition to checking in the App Store, over the past 12 months, Apple has detected and blocked about 110 thousand illegal applications with various malware in pirated app stores. Also, Apple has blocked more than 3.2 million copies of applications that are illegally distributed to users as part of the Apple Developer Enterprise Program. The program is designed to enable companies and other large organizations to develop and privately distribute applications for internal use to their employees.
